The rules for using this website, and the limits of what it is.
1. About these terms
These terms tell you the rules for using theambroseinitiative.org.uk (“this site”). By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
This site is operated by The Ambrose Initiative Limited, a charity registered in England and Wales, charity number 1212816, registered office 71 Woodsford Square, London, W14 8DS. You can contact us at help@theambroseinitiative.org.uk.
2. Using this site
We make the site available free of charge. We do not guarantee that it will always be available or uninterrupted, and we may suspend, withdraw or change any part of it without notice.
You agree not to:
- use the site in any way that breaks the law, or for any fraudulent or harmful purpose;
- knowingly introduce viruses, trojans, or other malicious material;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, the server it is stored on, or any connected database;
- attack the site by means of a denial-of-service attack; or
- scrape, harvest or reproduce substantial parts of the site for commercial purposes without our written permission.
We will report any breach of this kind to the relevant law enforcement authorities.
3. The information on this site
The content on this site is provided for general information about our charity and our work. It is not advice — legal, medical, financial, housing or otherwise — and you should not rely on it as though it were.
If you need housing advice, contact your local authority or a specialist adviser such as Shelter. If someone is in immediate danger or seriously unwell, call 999.
We take care to keep the site accurate and up to date, but we make no warranties that the content is complete, accurate or current.
4. Intellectual property
We own or are licensed to use all intellectual property rights in this site and in the material published on it, including our name, logo, text, layout and images. These are protected by copyright and trade mark law.
You may print or download extracts for your own personal, non-commercial use, and you may share links to our pages freely. You must not modify our materials, use them commercially, or use our name or logo to imply an endorsement or a partnership that does not exist, without our written permission.
If you are fundraising on our behalf and would like to use our logo, please ask us — we are usually glad to say yes.
About the photography on this site. Some images used on this website are illustrative and were produced using generative AI. They depict our services in principle and do not show identifiable individuals, real service users, or real people we have supported. We do this deliberately: publishing photographs of people experiencing homelessness carries real risks to their privacy, safety and dignity, and we will not trade those for a more compelling picture.
5. Links to other sites
Where we link to other websites, those links are provided for information only. We have no control over the contents of those sites and accept no responsibility for them or for any loss that may arise from your use of them.
6. Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, we exclude all implied conditions, warranties and representations to the fullest extent permitted by law, and we will not be liable to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of anticipated savings arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site.
This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
7. Donations
Donations made to us are gifts and are not normally refundable. Our approach to donations, Gift Aid and refunds is set out on our donate page.
8. Privacy
We handle personal data in accordance with our privacy policy and our cookie policy, which form part of these terms.
9. Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms at any time by revising this page. Please check it from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last updated.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
This policy was adopted by the trustees of The Ambrose Initiative Limited and is reviewed at least annually, or sooner if the law or our practice changes.
