Your donation
What your support pays for
We are a young charity without large reserves or guaranteed statutory income. That means donations translate very directly into frontline provision — there is not much machinery in between.
Rather than publish invented figures, here is honestly what we spend money on, in rough order of how much of it there is:
- Safe emergency accommodation and the bedding that goes with it
- Food, hot drinks and the kitchens that produce them
- Waterproofs, boots, thermals and very large quantities of new socks
- Replacement ID documents, travel costs and work clothing for people starting jobs
- Outreach equipment: flasks, kit bags, torches, hi-vis and first aid supplies
- The minimum core costs required to run a charity lawfully and safely
As we complete our first year we will publish audited figures showing exactly how income was spent, and link them here. We would rather show you real numbers later than estimated ones now.

Donate by PayPal — email us to give
To make a donation, please email us at help@theambroseinitiative.org.uk and we will send you our PayPal details so you can give securely.
Tell us roughly how much you would like to give and whether it is a one-off or a regular gift, and we will reply with everything you need — including a Gift Aid declaration, so we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 if you are a UK taxpayer.
Regular giving
A few pounds a month is what lets us plan ahead and commit to beds through the winter. Tell us you would like to give regularly and we will set it up with you through PayPal.

Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid lets us reclaim 25p from HM Revenue & Customs on every £1 you donate, at no extra cost to you. A £20 gift becomes £25.
To qualify, you must be a UK taxpayer and pay at least as much Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year as the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations to all charities that year. If you pay less, it is your responsibility to pay any difference to HMRC.
Please tell us if you change your name or home address, or if you no longer pay enough tax, so we can amend or cancel your declaration. Email help@theambroseinitiative.org.uk.
Our promise to donors
- We will never sell, rent or exchange your personal details with anyone.
- We will not use pressure tactics, and we will not chase you for a further gift if you ask us not to.
- We will tell you plainly how your money was spent, and publish our accounts.
- You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time and we will act on it promptly — see our privacy policy.
- If we get something wrong, our complaints procedure explains how to tell us and what happens next.
Refunds
Donations are gifts and are not normally refundable. If you have made a donation in error, in the wrong amount, or as a duplicate, contact us at help@theambroseinitiative.org.uk within 30 days and we will consider your request sympathetically and in line with charity law and our duties to the charity.
Beware of fraud. We will never telephone or email you to ask for your card details, your bank password, or a payment in gift cards or cryptocurrency. If you receive a suspicious request claiming to be from us, please do not respond — contact us directly at help@theambroseinitiative.org.uk.
